The installed power capacity in northwestern China's Qinghai province reached 54.97 GW in 2023, of which the installed clean energy capacity exceeded 50 GW to 51.08 GW, increasing 23.77% compared to the end of 2022, according to State Grid Qinghai Electric Power Company.
Qinghai province, located on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, boasts abundant water, solar and wind energy resources.
The province's clean energy development registered a robust momentum, with the newly-added clean energy capacity that has already connected to the grid reached 9.81 GW in 2023.
Qinghai's new energy power generation surpassed hydropower source for the first time in 2023, becoming the largest power source in the province.
The province completed 5.31 GW of control performance optimization in new energy plants, adding 1.1 GW to power generation capacity. And the new energy utilization rate also rose 0.7 percentage point, which effectively promoted the efficient use of clean energy.
It is anticipated that Qinghai's new energy construction will exceed 100 GW in 2030 amid high-quality development since the "14th Five-Year Plan".
