India's coking coal imports via all major state-owned ports was temporarily estimated at 48.825 million tonnes during the first nine months of the current fiscal (April 2023-March 2024), rising 12.97% from a year earlier, showed data from the Indian Ports Association (IPA) on January 5.
In December 2023, India imported 6.495 million tonnes of coking coal via these ports, lower than 6.57 million tonnes in the previous month.
Total shipment of iron ore including pellets was provisionally estimated to increase 45.40% year on year to 43.141 million tonnes from April to December, the IPA data showed.
