Raw coal output in Shanxi, China's major coal producing hub, amounted to 1.25 billion tonnes from January to November in 2023, up 3.8 year on year, ranking first in the country, according to the provincial statistics bureau.
Coal production in the province reached 1.19 billion tonnes in 2021 and 1.31 billion tonnes in 2022, respectively. This year, Shanxi has continuously utilized production capacity to enhance its energy supply capability.
During the first eleven months this year, production of unconventional natural gas increased 9.7% from the year before and power generation rose 4.3%, with outbound electricity up 7.9%.
Shanxi has accelerated the construction progress of coal mines, strengthened coal production coordination, continuously released production capacity to ensure stable and secure power coal supply.
Regarding power supply, the province has closely monitored related situations and improved the power supply capability of coal-fired power units to guide thermal power enterprises to operate at high levels during the winter peak period, addressing requirements for heating and power during extreme cold weather conditions.
