Central China's Hubei province consumed 23.04 TWh of electricity in September, up 9.45% from the year-ago level, showed data from the provincial development and reform commission.
In September, power consumption of the primary industries, mainly the agricultural sector, was 374 GWh, rising 4.07% year on year; that of the secondary industries, mainly the industrial sector, totaled 13.67 TWh, up 5.13% on the year.
The tertiary industries, mainly the service sector, used 5.02 TWh of electricity, up 13.96% year on year. The residential power consumption was 3.97 TWh, rising 21.13% from the previous year.
The industrial power consumption in September increased 5.32% on the year to 13.39 TWh, while manufacturing industry consumed 10.08 TWh, up 4.93%.
Hubei generated a total 29.78 TWh of electricity in the month, up 31.52% from a year earlier.
Three Gorges hydropower station, China's largest state-owned hydropower plant, generated 9.06 TWh of power, jumping 114.87% year on year.
Power generation of other companies rose by 12.45% from the preceding year to 20.72 TWh in September, of which, hydropower plants generated 5.91 TWh, surging 191.57% from a year ago. Thermal power generation was 11.32 TWh, a year-on-year increase of 64.56%.
In the first nine months of this year, the province's total power consumption and generation achieved 204.08 TWh (+0.32% YoY) and 240.47 TWh (-0.58% YoY), respectively.
Power usage by industrial industries picked up by 0.42% on the year to 114.01 TWh during January-September, and manufacturing industries utilized 85.38 TWh, up 0.48%.
