Australia's coal exports were worth A$8.09 billion ($5.34 billion) in November, rising for the second consecutive month with the increase rate at 8.87%, yet falling 29.33% from a year ago, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Coal exports to Japan were valued at A$2.66 billion in November, ticking up 0.73% from the preceding month yet down 53.95% year on year, accounting for 33% of Australia's total coal export value; and shipments to India amounted to A$1.42 billion, up 13.70% on the month but down 3.36% on the year.
Coal deliveries to China's mainland were worth A$1.10 billion, up 18.25% month on month and compared with zero in the same month last year.
Coal exports to South Korea were A$878 million, a sequential increase of 34.93% yet down 24.47% year on year. Exports to China's Taiwan were worth A$456 million in November, rising 3.71% from the month-ago level yet declining 34.42% from the same period last year.
From January-November in 2023, Australia's coal export value totaled A$93.24 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 28.25%. Among them, the export value of coal to Japan was A$32.82 billion, down 36.21% year on year.
