China's thermal coal prices extended the decline over January 11-20, showed the latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics.
Anthracite prices continued to fall at a slower pace, while coking coal prices decreased with an expanded rate.
Specifically, ordinary mixed thermal coal from Shanxi with calorific value 4,500 Kcal/kg NAR was sold at 702.7 yuan/t during January 11-20, down 9.9 yuan/t or 1.4% from the previous session.
Prices of Shanxi 5,000 Kcal/kg NAR mixed coal were 805.7 yuan/t in mid-January, falling 16.2 yuan/t or 2.0% compared to the precious session.
Premium Shanxi mixed 5,500 Kcal/kg NAR thermal coal was traded at 915.7 yuan/t, down 16.2 yuan/t or 1.7% from January 1-10.
Prices of 5,800 Kcal/kg NAR thermal coal produced in Shanxi's Datong decreased 17.0 yuan/t or 1.7% from the previous ten days to 965.7 yuan/t in mid-January.
Prices of primary coking coal with sulfur content < 1% averaged 2,375.0 yuan/t in the period, decreasing 135.7 yuan/t or 5.4% from early January.
Washed medium-lump anthracite with volatile content ≤ 8% averaged 1,012.1 yuan/t, down 22.2 yuan/t or 2.1% from early January.
Over January 11-20, Quasi Grade I metallurgical coke was sold at 2,212.9 yuan/t on average, down 100 yuan/t or 4.3% from the preceding session, data showed.
