China Energy Investment Group officially started the running of 20,000-tonne coal train from Wochang station of Xinshuo railway to Shenchi south station of Shuohuang railway on December 21, making Xinshuo railway the third heavy-load railway in the country capable of operating 20,000-tonne trains.
The train consists of 216 wagons with a total weight of 21,600 tonnes, a payload of 17,280 tonnes, and an overall length of 2.7 kilometers, helping enhance eastwards coal transportation efficiency through the two railways.
As the golden artery for transporting coal from the west to the east, Xinshuo railway connects to Baoshen railway in the west, the Daqin railway in the east, and the Shuohuang railway in the south. Stretching a total length of 631 kilometers, the railway spans the provinces of Shanxi and Inner Mongolia and forms five major coal outbound channels from Shanxi, Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia to four ports, with annual average transportation reaching 170 million tonnes.
Xinshuo and Shuohuang railways are both managed by CHN Energy Group and collectively constitute a vital part of China's second major "West-to-East" coal transportation channel. The latter had already started 20,000-tonne heavy-load trains.
Xinshuo line now is able to deliver higher volume from Wochang station directly to the Shuohuang line, effectively address the transport strains in the junction of Shenchi South station which often face challenges of long queues for loading and delivery delays during peak times.
CHN Energy boasts an extensive railway network spanning 2,708 km with a transportation capacity of 5.4 billion tonnes. The group owns three specialized coal ports with a throughput capacity of 2.9 billion tonnes, forming a comprehensive transportation network that connects major trunk lines including the Jingbao, Daqin, Tongpu, Jingjiu, Jingguang, and Jinghu, linking with key northern ports like Tianjin, Huanghua, Qinhuangdao, and Longkou.
