Turkey imported 3.42 million tonnes of coal in November this year, falling 10.5% from the preceding year and 11.84% from a month earlier, hitting a new low since June, showed the country's trading statistics.
The value of coal imports rose 35.84% year on year to $471 million, yet dipping 0.23% from October. That put the average import price at $137.66/t in November, down 28.31% from a year ago but up 13.16% month on month.
During January-November, Turkey's coal imports reached 36.55 million tonnes, up 9.38% from the year-ago level, which retreated by 2.57 percentage points compared to the first ten months. The accumulative import value amounted to $5.27 billion, down 29.83% on the year.
Turkey's imports of bituminous coal stood at 2.88 million tonnes in November, down 13.87% year on year and 16.88% month on month. The imports amounted to $337 million, falling 44.64% year on year and 12.65% from the preceding month.
Turkey's coking coal imports were 495,500 tonnes in November, up 23.52% on the year and 44.02% on the month. Anthracite coal imports in the same month increased 0.46% from the year-ago level but dropped 34.89% on the month to 48,900 tonnes.
Turkey's imports of coke amounted to 92,500 tonnes in November, surging 220% year on year and up 11.11% month on month. The value of coke imports jumped 122% on the year and rose 8.71% on the month to $27.75 million.
