PT Sumber Daya Energi (SDE), 70% subsidiary of China Qinfa Group Limited, starts coal mining operation of Indonesia's only underground coal mine, according to an announcement of the group on December 18.
SDE held the coal mining business license of the coal mine with a site area of near 185 square kilometers, which located in Sungai Durian of South Kalimantan in Indonesia.
The Qinfa Group had engaged an independent mineral consultant to estimate the total coal reserves and resources of the SDE Coal Mine in accordance with the JORC Code, which set the minimum standard for Public Reporting of minerals exploration results, mineral resources and ore reserves.
The probable coal resources of SDE Coal Mine were estimated to nearly 293 million tonnes and coal resources approximately 589 million tonnes, according to a report released on December 31, 2021.
The group's investment in the SDE coal mine amounted to $300 million as of November 30, 2023. And the SDE Coal Mine was designed with coal production capacity up to 10 million tonnes per annum, the announcement said.
China Qinfa Group Limited is a Hong Kong-based investment holding company principally engaged in the mining and sales of coal. The coal segment is engaged in the mining, purchase and sales, storage and blending of coal in China. Its mines include Xingtao Coal, Fengxi Coal, Chongsheng Coal, Xinglong Coal and Hongyuan Coal.
