China Datang Corporation, one of the country's largest state-owned coal and power producers, reported a notable growth in its coal production in 2023, as newly-added capacity was brought online.
The full-year coal production soared 32.12% against the year-ago level, the company said in a recent meeting, with no specific production mentioned.
The sharp gain came as it resumed operations at several mines in Inner Mongolia last August. Before that in June, its Longwanggou mine received approval from the National Mine Safety Administration to increase its capacity by 3 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) to 15 Mtpa.
Meanwhile, the group reported a 1.4% rise in power generation, 3.57% in heating supply and 1.4% in natural gas output, against the 2022 level.
Renewable developments have progressed at a faster pace. Datang's new energy project commencements and completions both hit historical highs in 2023, at 131% and 139% of the previous records, respectively, according to the meeting.
