    Mongolia 2023 coal exports surge 118.8% on yr

    Mongolia's coal exports totaled 69.61 million tonnes throughout 2023, surging 37.79 million tonnes or 118.75% year on year, according to the latest data from the Mongolian Customs General Administration (MCGA).

     

    The value of coal exports amounted to $8.89 billion in 2023, jumping 36.83% from the previous year, with the average price calculated at $127.83/t, down 37.45% year on year, data showed.

     

    MCGA didn't release the specific figures for December. Sxcoal calculated the coal exports at 7.26 million tonnes based on historical data published by the administration, up 56.68% year on year yet down 8.76% month on month.

     

    In December, the export amounts totaled $843 million, increasing 11.11% from the previous year yet declining 6.03% from November. This put the average price at $116.14/t, down 29.09% year on year but up 2.98% month on month.
