Central China's Hubei province consumed 24.49 TWh of electricity in December, up 7.05% year on year, according to data from the local development and reform commission.
The primary industries, mainly the agricultural sector, consumed 264 GWh of electricity, rising 5.60% from the year-ago level; that of the secondary industries, mainly the industrial sector, totaled 14.02 TWh, up 6.18% on the year; the tertiary industries, mainly the service sector, used 5.23 TWh, up 24.07% from the previous year.
The residential power consumption was 4.98 TWh in the same month, decreasing 4.43% from the previous year, data showed.
Total power consumption was 270.64 TWh during January-December, up 2.21% year on year. The power consumption of all three industries increased on the year, while the residential use fell 4.55% on the year to 52.96 TWh throughout 2023.
The province's power generation was 21.13 TWh (excluding the volume contributed by Three Gorges) in December, edging up 0.87% year on year. The cumulative output reached 239.79 TWh from January-December (excluding the Three Gorges), up 3.23% on the year.
Hydropower plants generated 3.19 TWh of electricity (excluding the Three Gorges) in December, surging 60.3% from a year ago. Thermal power generation was 14.84 TWh, a year-on-year decline of 12.18%; wind power was 1.30 TWh, increasing 9.73% from the previous year; solar energy generated 1.80 TWh, soaring 104.87% year on year.
