Taiyuan city in China's coal-producing hub Shanxi province is on course to basically realize the intelligent transformation of all types of coal mines by 2027, Taiyuan Daily reported, citing a work plan released on January 11.
Taiyuan currently has 49 mines with a total production capacity of 71.75 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), of which 38 mines in operation boast a combined 60.35 Mtpa capacity.
According to the plan, the city this year will commence the intelligent transformation of coal mines with a 1.2 Mtpa capacity or more and those facing severe hazards, and completed four intelligent mines.
By 2025, the intelligent upgrades of other types of production coal mines will begin, and large-scale mines, those facing severe hazards, and other eligible mines will achieve a basic level of intelligence. An additional five intelligent mines will be established. By 2027, all types of coal mines in the city are expected to be basically intelligent.
By leveraging its advantages of favorable location, robust industrial foundation, rich application scenarios as a provincial capital, strong research and development capabilities and leading technologies, Taiyuan is driving local development of the intelligent coal industry cluster.
The plan outlines comprehensive efforts to promote intelligent development of coal mines, aiming for a holistic intelligent ecosystem and the promotion of high-quality development in the coal industry.
