China exported 90.26 million tonnes of steel products in 2023, rising 36.2% from a year ago, according to the latest data released by the General Administration of Customs.
Export value totaled $84.56 billion last year, down 8.3% on the year. That put the average export price of steel products at $936.8/t, down 32.7% year on year.
In December alone, China exported 7.73 million tonnes of steel products, down 3.5% month on month yet up 43.1% year on year, data showed.
The December exports were worth $6.37 billion over the month, a 1.8% decrease from a month earlier and a 13.4% decline on the year, with the average export price calculated at $824.9/t, rising 1.7% month on month yet falling 39.5% year on year.
