China Railway (CR) Taiyuan Group, operator of 12 trunk rail lines including major coal-dedicated Daqin railway, delivered a total 676.36 million tonnes of coal throughout the year of 2023, rising 4% from the year prior, local media reported.
The accumulative cargo shipment of the group was registered at 786.02 million tonnes in 2023, up 2.2% compared with the year-ago level. The daily cargo loading volume increased 1.8% on the year to 30,098 wagons.
Last year, CR Taiyuan Group continued to boost freight transportation by overcoming adverse factors, improving quality, capacity and efficiency and fully utilizing the transport capacity of Daqin, Wari, Houyue and Shitai rail lines, the report said.
Daqin railway achieved a shipping volume of 422.09 million tonnes for 2023, growing 25.31 million tonnes year on year, while Wari line surpassed 100 million tonnes again.
To ensure smooth transportation of power coal, the group made full use of the capacity of coal transport channels, increased the operation of 20,000-tonne heavy-haul trains on Daqin railway, and promoted facilities construction for Wari line.
