A total 17 coal-producing enterprises in China reported raw coal output exceeding 50 million tonnes in 2023, according to the preliminary data of China National Coal Association.
Raw coal output of the 17 firms amounted to 2.79 billion tonnes, 70 million tonnes or 2.6% higher than 2022, data showed.
Of the 17 coal producers, eight firms' raw coal output exceeded 100 million tonnes, 1 more than the previous year, including CHN Energy, Jinneng Holding Group, Shandong Energy Group, China National Coal Group Corporation, Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd., Shanxi Coking Coal Group Co., Ltd., China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd. and Lu' an Chemical Group Co., Ltd.
Raw coal output of the eight enterprises totaled 2.23 billion tonnes, increasing 70 million tonnes or 3% from 2022. Among them, Jinneng Holding produced 430 million tonnes of raw coal in 2023, while that of China Huaneng Group exceeded 100 million tonnes as of December 4 in 2023.
Nine companies' raw coal production was between 50-100 million tonnes in 2023, including State Power Investment Corporation Limited, Huaihe Energy Group Co., Ltd., Xinjiang Tianchi Energy Co., Ltd., Henan Energy Group Co., Ltd., Inner Mongolia Yitai Group Co., Ltd., Jizhong Energy Group Co., Ltd., China Huadian Co., Ltd., Inner Mongolia Huineng Group and Liaoning Energy Group.
The total raw coal output of the nine firms was 560 million tonnes, basically unchanged from last year.
