Australian miner New Hope Corp. reported its raw coal production increased 10% year-on-year and 1% from a quarter earlier to 2.45 million tonnes over August to October.
Commercial coal output in the company stood at 2.04 million tonnes during the reporting period, up 26% from 1.62 million tonnes last year and rising 1% compared with 2.03 million tonnes in the previous quarter. Over August to October, the company sold 1.82 million tonnes of coal, down 3% from a year ago and 14% on the quarter, according to its financial report released on November 20.
From August to October, the company produced 2.21 million tonnes of raw coal from the Bengalla coal mine in NSW, 1% lower year-on-year and 9% lower than the prior quarter. Commercial coal production totaled 1.98 million tonnes, rising 22% on the year yet down 2% from the preceding quarter and coal sales stood at 1.82 million tonnes, down 3% from the preceding year and 14% on the quarter.
The company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) were A$245 million during the given period, down 8.5% from May to July. The Coal sale price averaged A$221.5/t, much lower than A$346.7/t last quarter.
