China's independent coke firms churned out 29.91 million tonnes of the steelmaking material in November 2023, rising 8.3% on the year and accounting for 74.1% of the country's total coke output, according to data released by the China Coking Industry Association (CCIA).
Coke output from steel firms' captive coking plants was registered at 10.46 million tonnes in November, up 4.1% from the preceding year, the CCIA data showed.
The combined coke output reached 40.37 million tonnes in November, 7.2% higher than the year-ago level, data showed.
During the first eleven months last year, coke output of the independent coking plants stood at 332.02 million tonnes, up 2.9% year on year, while that of the captive firms increased 4.3% to 118.39 million tonnes.
China's total coke output was 450.40 million tonnes in January-November, rising 3.3% from a year earlier.
Coke output of member firms of the CCIA totaled 19.58 million tonnes in November, climbing 7.18% from the year before.
