CHN Energy Xinjiang Energy Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of state-run China Energy Investment Corporation, completed 14.75 million tonnes of outbound coal deliveries in 2023, tripling the volume in 2021, according to the parent company.
Xinjiang is the fourth largest coal-producing base in China, with its proven coal reserves at 450 billion tonnes, making up one-fourth of the country's total and only second to Inner Mongolia.
Given the limited growth space of coal output in Shanxi, Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang boasted huge coal supplying potential compared with these provinces and is the main coal hub boosting coal production.
Ever since the group fully initiated outbound shipment of Xinjiang coal since July 2022, CHN Energy has opened many channels to deliver the fuel to 16 regions and provinces in China.
In 2023, coal sales in Xinjiang have surpassed 110 million tonnes, rising 8% year on year, with average calorific value content at 5,000 Kcal/kg NAR or so.
The time span for shipping coal from Xinjiang to coastal ports has been shortened to six days, down five days or 45% from 2022 level.
Coal deliveries by trucks have also been largely improved to over 3.5 million tonnes.
