Russian Railways has entered into agreements to deliver about 100 million tonnes of coal from key production areas to its Far East region for exports in 2024, the company said on Telegram.
Specifically, 54.1 million tonnes of coal will be sent from its top coal hub of Kuzbass, 26.3 million tonnes from Yakutia, 8.5 million tonnes from Buryatia, 6.5 million tonnes from Khakassia, 3.3 million tonnes from Irkutsk, and 0.65 million tonnes from Tyva.
The breakdown of transportation volume will be fixed quarterly based on plans for its infrastructure maintenance and construction work.
Rail shipments of Russian coal to Far East export terminals were registered at 48.1 million tonnes during January-June 2023, up 2.3 million tonnes year on year, data showed.
