China National Coal Group Co., Ltd., one leading coal producer in China, set new record in commercial coal output, as it strives to meet growing demand for power and heat supply in the winter peak season.
A total 216 million tonnes of commercial coal was produced in the year to November 20, up 5.43% year on year, the group said recently in a statement on its official website.
Since entering 2023, the group has been focusing on energy demand of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta among other key regions, said the head of China Coal Sales and Transportation Co., Ltd.
It also actively participated in the construction of national coal reserve bases, and developed emergency plans to ensure energy supply in extreme weather conditions.
East Opencast mine of China Coal Pingshuo Group, the largest opencast mine of China Coal Group, supplied 49.62 million tonnes coal under mid- and long-term contracts in the first ten months of this year, representing a fulfillment rate of 104.35%, the group said.
The mine also played a key role in meeting coal demand from surrounding power plants, supplying 14.86 million tonnes of term contract coal from January to October, or a fulfillment rate of 106%.
Dahaize, the largest vertical shaft mine in China, produced 12.64 million tonnes of commercial coal and supplied 12.65 million tonnes to the outside in the year to November 20, it said.
The mine was approved by the government to increase production capacity from 15 million tonnes to 20 million tonnes per year, with all the additional coal output signed into mid- and long-term contracts at government-directed prices.
Besides supplying local chemical industries in Uxin banner of Ordos, China Coal's Northwest Company has also supplied more than 16 million tonnes of term contract coal to South and East China since the start of 2023.
Meanwhile, China Coal Resources Development Group, formerly China Coal Import and Export Group, supplied 5.80 million tonnes of term contract coal in the first ten months, the statement said.
Separately, China Coal Group's cumulative power generation surged 55.91% on the year to 73.79 TWh in the year to November 20, also hitting the highest in history, it said.
