Electricity usage maintained a high growth rate in October, which stood at 136.9 TWh, rising 11.2% year on year, 2.8 percentage points higher than the national electricity consumption growth rate.
The primary industries, mainly the agricultural sector, witnessed a 10.3% rise on the year in electricity usage. Power consumption in the secondary industries, mainly the industrial sector, climbed 11.5% on the year, exceeding 10% for the first time since March this year. The tertiary industries, mainly the service sector, increased 13.3% compared to the same period last year. And residential use increased by 5.6% on the year. Notably, the electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing industry, as well as the computer, communication, and other electronic equipment manufacturing industries, experienced rapid growth, both exceeding 12% in growth rate. The power consumption of low-carbon transition-related photovoltaic equipment and component manufacturing even surged to 43.3%.
In October, the power consumption of domestic service industries in the five southern provinces and regions maintained a high level and all achieved double-digit growth. Power consumption of new energy vehicles and other upgrades continued to expand, driving the charging and switching service industries to maintain high growth of more than 60% year-on-year for three consecutive months.
In the same month, Hainan's total power consumption had a 20% year-on-year increase, ranking first nationwide in terms of growth rate. The tertiary industries' electricity usage maintained a high growth rate of 27.4%. Guangdong's electricity consumption rose 8.8% on the year.
