• Russia's Jun coal output down 6.92% MoM

    Russia's coal production dropped for the second month in June, according to data from the Russian Federal State Statistics Service.

     

    The country's coal output stood at 33.38 million tonnes in June, down 6.92% from May but up 0.82% year over year.

    About 74% of Russia's coal came from Siberia, at 24.61 million tonnes, down 9.58% month over month but up 4.86% year on year.

     

    By coal type, Russian anthracite production was 2.31 million tonnes in June, falling 6.71% from May but up 10.72% year over year. Coking coal output was 8.35 million tonnes, up 6.13% from May but down 7.59% year over year.

     

    Other bituminous coal production reached 16.88 million tonnes, down 8.8% from May but up 4.37% year over year. Lignite production was 5.84 million tonnes, down 16.7% month on month but up 0.46% from a year ago.

     

    In the first six months of 2023, Russia's total coal production reached 213 million tonnes, up 1.49% from the same period in 2022.
