Mongolian Mining Corporation (MMC), a Mongolia-based coking coal producer listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, registered a 7% year-on-year growth in raw coal production in the fourth quarter last year, the company said in its quarterly report.
MMC and its subsidiaries mined 3.08 million tonnes of raw coal during the October-December quarter, representing a 14% decline from the quarter-ago level, data showed.
The company and its affiliates processed 3.37 million tonnes of raw coking coal in the fourth quarter, rising 10% from the year prior but falling 14% from the preceding quarter.
Washed coking coal output reached 1.71 million tonnes in the given quarter, climbing 17% year on year yet falling 11% compared with the third quarter. Sales of washed coking coal were 1.74 million tonnes, up 18% year on year and unchanged from the previous quarter.
MMC currently operates Ukhaa Khudag mine and Baruun Naran mine in South Gobi province. Ukhaa Khudag mine has three coal preparation and washing plants (CHPP), with total raw coal processing capacity of 15 million tonnes per year.
In 2023, MMC and its subsidies produced a total 14.6 million tonnes of coal, jumping 156% year on year and processed 14.1 million tonnes. Washed coking coal production surged 122% year on year to 6.7 million tonnes, while sales climbed 78% on the year to 6.7 million tonnes.
