China's coal producing hub Shanxi consumed a total 25.0 TWh of electricity in November, up 13.3% year on year (YoY), accelerating by 4.3 percentage points from October growth, showed data from the provincial statistical bureau.
Total power consumption rose 5.9% YoY to 260.18 TWh during first eleven months of 2023, the bureau said.
For the non-residential segment, the primary industries, mainly the agricultural sector, consumed 0.23 TWh of electricity in November, a 25.2% rise YoY, with January-November figure up 11.5% to 2.29 TWh.
The secondary industries, mainly the industrial sector, used 18.54 TWh of electricity in November, a 10.7% increase YoY, with industrial power consumption at 18.28 TWh, up 10.8%. From January to November, power consumption by secondary industries picked up by 4.6% to 194.74 TWh (industrial sector 192.50 TWh, + 4.7% YoY).
The tertiary industries, mainly the service sector, used 3.58 TWh of electricity in November, up 29.0% YoY, sending the total volume from January to November up 12.5% YoY to 36.30 TWh.
Residential power consumption increased 12.6% on the year to 2.65 TWh in November, and 26.85 TWh over January-November, up 6.5% YoY.
