Henan province in central China consumed 30.1 TWh of electricity in October this year, rising 8.86% from a year ago, sending total power use to 338.47 TWh in the first ten months, up 3.02% over the same period of 2022, showed data from provincial energy supervision department.
By industry, the primary industries – mainly the agricultural sector – consumed 0.63 TWh of power in October, up 19.70% year on year.
Power use by the secondary industries – mainly the industry sector (18.39 TWh, +6.69% YoY) – hit 18.70 TWh, up 6.49% year on year. The manufacturing industry used 13.4 TWh, an increase of 5.45% on the year.
The tertiary industries – mainly the service sector – used 5.88 TWh of electricity in the month, rising 23.34% from the previous year.
The power consumed by urban and rural residents for living purpose grew 1.93% year over year to 4.88 TWh in October.
In terms of power output, Henan generated 23.88 TWh of power in the month, 2.95% higher than the same month of last year, with cumulative power output during January-October up 1.06% on the year to 283.14 TWh.
In October, Henan's power generation by hydro, thermal, wind and solar reached 1.22 TWh (+57.01% YoY), 16.93 TWh (-2.94% YoY), 2.83 TWh (-12.48% YoY) and 2.89 TWh (+66.67% YoY) respectively.
By end-October, the utilization time of power generation units averaged 2,225 hours in the province, decreasing 249 hours year on year, of which that of thermal power units fell 140 hours to 2,895 hours.
As of end-October, Henan had 135.13 GW of installed power capacity, increasing 17.94 GW from the same period last year, with hydro, thermal, wind and solar power accounting for 3.97%, 54.76%, 15.40% and 25.87%, respectively.
