The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) has carried out an essential maintenance on the Hunter Valley Network for four days starting November 21 to maintain high safety and reliability standards.
The line has been shut down from 6:30 a.m. November 21 and will last till 6:30 p.m. on November 24. It is part of the company's annual maintenance program, the company said on its website.
The maintenance works cover Kooragang to Turrawan on the main north line and as far as Ulan on the Ulan line.
The Hunter Valley contains a long established rail network that transports coal from as far as Narrabri in central New South Wales to the port of Newcastle. The rail network accommodates over 200 million tonnes per annum of coal from over 40 mines in the Hunter Valley and the Gunnedah basin.
