China consumed 781.1 TWh of electricity in September, rising 9.9% on the year, according to data released by the National Energy Administration on October 16.
The non-residential sectors demonstrated varied growths. The primary industries, primarily the agricultural sector, recorded an 8.6% year-on-year increase to consume 11.7 TWh of electricity. The secondary industries, mainly the industrial sector, utilized 519.2 TWh of electricity, marking an 8.7% rise over the year. The tertiary industries, largely the service sector, used 146.7 TWh of electricity, up 16.9% from the year prior.
For the residential segment, power consumption in September saw a 6.6% growth year on year to 103.5 TWh.
From January to September, China's power consumption grew 5.6% year on year to 6,863.7 TWh.
The primary industries consumed 97.6 TWh of electricity, an 11.3% rise year on year. The secondary industries used 4,470.3 TWh of electricity, a 5.5% year-on-year growth. The tertiary industries utilized 1,254.6 TWh, up 10.1% year on year. The residential power consumption advanced by 0.5% year on year to 1,041.2 TWh.
