Mongolia exported 5.71 million tonnes of iron ore in 2023, rising 20.72% or 980,700 tonnes from the previous year, showed the latest data from the Mongolian Customs General Administration (MCGA).
China remained the only destination of Mongolian iron ore exports in 2023.
The total export earnings increased by 13.73% on the year to $448 million in the year, data showed.
MCGA didn't release the specific figure for December. Sxcoal calculated the exports at 579,300 tonnes based on the overall exports published by the customs authority, up 68.53% year on year and 48.53% on the month.
The iron ore exports amounted to $48.94 million in December, with average price at $84.48/t, up $22.87/t from the year-ago level yet down $0.23/t from November, data showed.
