Coal exports from Australia increased 4.27% month on month and 14.43% year on year to 31.62 million tonnes in November, marking the third consecutive month of growth, according to cargo tracking data from Kpler.
Japan was still the top destination of Australia coal in November with the shipment at 8.40 million tonnes, down 1.34% compared to October and 27.70% on the year.
Coal exports to China's mainland stood at 6.40 million tonnes, rising 4.84% from the preceding month and compared with zero in November last year, data showed.
South Korea-bound shipments were 3.71 million tonnes, up 9.59% month on month and 13.71% from a year ago.
In the first eleven months of 2023, Australia's coal exports totaled 326 million tonnes, up 4.11% year on year.
