Hohhot city, in northern China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, produced 1.22 million tonnes of raw coal in October, surging 156.4% on the year and 34.7% month on month, according to the official website of the local government.
The improvement in land acquisition for coal producers reversed the partially production suspension seen during the same period last year.
Coal output from January to October totaled 9.11 million tonnes in Hohhot city, rising 17.7% year on year, which expanded by 9.1 percentage points (pps) compared to 8.6% in the first three quarters and by 19.9 pps compared to a fall of 2.2% over the first half of the year.
Furthermore, power generation in Hohhot city amounted to 59.47 TWh, a 14.6% increase from a year earlier. This represented an uptick of 0.3 pp compared to 14.3% in January-September and was 4.2 pps higher than 10.4% over the first half year.
Thermal power output increased 14.4% from the year prior to 54.33 TWh during the given period. The generation from clean energy reached 5.14 TWh, up 16.5% on the year. Of this, hydropower, wind power, and solar power generated 1.06 TWh, 3.04 TWh, and 1.04 TWh, respectively, posting year-on-year growths of 2.3%, 29.8%, and 0.8%.
