Northern China's Hulun Buir city in Inner Mongolia autonomous region produced a total 109 million tonnes of raw coal in 2023, rising 4.9% on the year, according to the local development and reform commission.
The city's raw coal sales amounted to 108.70 million tonnes, up 3.7% from a year ago.
Last year, local coal producers signed and fulfilled thermal coal medium- and long-term contracts with a combined volume of 88.05 million tonnes, among which 81.17 million tonnes of coal was supplied to power generators and 6.88 million tonnes was used for heating.
Meanwhile, operational coal mines in Hulun Buir city held 1.31 million tonnes of coal stocks, up 28.3% compared to the previous year.
The city generated 41.54 TWh of electricity for 2023, a 2.43% year-on-year increase.
As of the end of 2023, Hulun Buir city had invested 789 million yuan in the power sector, speeding up the construction of coal-fired and new energy power projects and power grids.
