Shanxi Coking Coal Group Co., Ltd., China's largest coking coal producer, has successfully completed the signing work of mid- and long-term coal contracts for 2024 at an industry trade fair from November 27 to December 2.
During the fair, Shanxi Coking Coal contacted 35 clients and inked contracts covering a total 70.23 million tonnes of coking coal.
On November 28, the coal giant signed mid- and long-term coking coal sales and distribution contracts with three new companies, which added the group's total number of term-contract clients to 26.
Following thorough discussions with clients, Shanxi Coking Coal found both steel and coke producers show increased demand for premium primary coking coal and fat coal produced in Shanxi, partly owing to the development of large-scale blast furnaces and coke ovens, highlighting the lack of such coking coal resources.
In fact, coking coal supply is in shortage as a whole, the group commented, noting the escalated safety inspections have resulted in supply tightness and price increases.
