Southwestern China's Yunnan province generated 352.71 TWh of electricity during the first ten months in 2023, rising 2.5% year on year and accelerating 1.6 percentage points over the January-September growth, showed data released by Energy Administration of Yunnan province.
Power generation of enterprises with annual revenue above 20 million yuan ($2.80 million) reached 331.26 TWh in the same period, up 2.5% year on year and 1.8 percentage points higher than growth in January-September.
The generation included 251.25 TWh of hydropower, down 5.5% on the year; 51.64 TWh of thermal power, rising 39.8% year on year; 21.86 TWh of wind power, increasing 26.4% year on year; and 6.51 TWh solar, soaring 104.6% year on year.
Power consumption in Yunnan province totaled 207.32 TWh over the first ten months, rising 4.2% from the same period in 2022, data showed.
By industry, the primary industries – mainly the agricultural sector – consumed 2.77 TWh of power over January-October, up 38.0% year on year.
Power consumption of the secondary industries – mainly the industry sector (146.9 TWh, +2.1% YoY) – hit 150.31 TWh in the first ten months, up 2.0% year on year.
The tertiary industries – mainly the service sector – used 29.05 TWh of electricity in the same period, rising 13.9% from the previous year.
From January-October, residential power use totaled 25.19 TWh, rising 4.9% year on year.
