Aluhashat, the northernmost Sino-Mongolian border port in Inner Mongolia, located just 126 km from the capital of Mongolia's Dornod aimag, has become a strategic channel for coal imports with significant transportation advantages, according to Inner Mongolia Daily.
The border port had imported 320,000 tonnes of coal since it reopened on January 19, 2023, after a three-year closure caused by the pandemic.
Yuan Wenquan, an official with the local customs, said the customs clearance time for imported coal was reduced from the original 80 hours to 25 hours, a 69% reduction with the implementation of the "third-party inspection result acceptance model".
The average time for customs inspection and testing decreased from 72 hours to only 2 hours, according to Yuan.
