Ordos, a major coal heartland in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, registered a 2.2% year-on-year growth in raw coal output during January-September, according to local statistics bureau.
The production, which the bureau didn't elaborate, represented 67.3% of total production in Inner Mongolia, it said. The autonomous region produced a total of 898 million tonnes of coal during first nine months this year, up 0.7% from a year ago.
Among 11 coal-producing leagues and cities in Inner Mongolia, six leagues and cities recorded a year-on-year increase while the rest a decline, the bureau said.
Hulun Buir city, the mainstay for ensuring coal supply in northeastern China, saw its output up by 6.6% on the year, driving coal production growth in the region by 0.6 percentage points.
In terms of power sector, Inner Mongolia generated a total 543.18 TWh of electricity over the first three quarters this year, up 13.6% on the year and ranking first in China. The yearly growth increased by 0.9 percentage point from that in the January-August period, maintaining the double-digit growth for six consecutive months.
The power structure in Inner Mongolia has been continuously optimized. Power generation from new energy sources reached 105.91 TWh, surpassing the 100-TWh mark two months ahead of last year and accounting for 19.5% of the region's total power generation.
