Henan province in central China consumed 33.13 TWh of electricity in September this year, rising 8.31% from a year ago, sending total power use to 308.37 TWh in the first nine months, up 2.48% over the same period of 2022, showed the data from provincial energy supervision department.
By industry, the primary industries – mainly the agricultural sector – consumed 0.71 TWh of power in September, up 15.65% year on year.
Power use by the secondary industries hit 19.33 TWh, up 3.12% year on year. Of that, 18.98 TWh was used in the industrial sector, up 3.29% on a yearly basis, with the manufacturing industry using 13.65 TWh, an increase of 2.01% on the year.
The tertiary industries – mainly the service sector – used 7.05 TWh of electricity in the month, rising 16.22% from the previous year.
The power consumed by urban and rural residents for living purpose grew 16.99% year on year to 6.04 TWh in September.
In terms of power output, Henan generated 27.95 TWh of power in the month, 5.69% lower than the same month of last year, with cumulative power output during January-September up 0.89% on the year to 259.26 TWh.
In September, Henan's power generation by hydro, thermal, wind and solar reached 1.04 TWh (-7.18% YoY), 22.01 TWh (+4.73% YoY), 1.93 TWh (-7.96% YoY) and 2.97 TWh (+34.24% YoY) respectively.
By end-September, the utilization time of power generation units averaged 2,049 hours in the province, decreasing 227 hours year on year, of which that of thermal power units fell 133 hours to 2,663 hours.
By end-September, Henan had 132.93 GW of installed power capacity, increasing 16.33 GW over the same period of last year, with hydro, thermal, wind and solar power accounting for 4.04%, 54.99%, 15.35% and 25.62%, respectively.
