Russia's seaborne coal exports fell 10.91% month on month to 10.26 million tonnes in January 2024, marking the sixth straight month of decline, according to Kpler's cargo-tracking data.
The volume was also 26.50% lower compared with the same month in the preceding year, the data showed.
Shipments to the top destination China's mainland stood at 2.76 million tonnes in January, dropping 21.17% month on month and marking the lowest level since March 2022.
The volume was also 48.14% lower than the year-ago level, representing 27% of Russia's total seaborne exports.
Turkey came as the second-largest destination, with shipments at 1.49 million tonnes, down 24.57% from the month-ago level and 33.33% from a year ago, data showed.
Shipments to India were registered at 1.35 million tonnes, down 29.19% month on month and 24.26% year on year.
Russia delivered 1.24 million tonnes of coal to South Korea, up 3.85% from the previous month yet down 42.60% from the year-ago level. Shipments to China's Taiwan fell 24.26% from December 2023 to 0.55 million tonnes in the same month, which was 8.01% lower from the same month last year.
