China's 10 largest coal mining groups (in terms of production) produced 2.4 billion tonnes of raw coal in 2023, rising 84.12 million tonnes or 3.63% year on year, according to statistics released by China National Coal Association.
Their coal production represented 51.5% of China's total coal production, which reached 4.67 billion tonnes, a 2.9% rise year on year during the same period, according to data of the National Bureau of Statistics.
In December alone, China churned out 410 million tonnes of raw coal, rising 1.9% on the year.
China imported 470 million tonnes of coal last year, jumping 61.8% on the year.
