Coal production of Mongolia came in at 8.41 million tonnes in December 2023, rising 35.53% year on year and 1.31% month on month, marking a three-month winning streak, showed data from the National Statistical Office of Mongolia.
The country produced a total 81.19 million tonnes of coal last year, jumping 118.21% from the preceding year.
Mongolia's iron ore production was 424,500 tonnes in December, surging 71.58% on the year yet down 22.34% on the month. This included 334,400 tonnes of iron sand, climbing 110.18% year on year but down 12.69% from the previous month, and 90,100 tonnes of iron concentrate, up 2.04% from a year ago but down 44.93% month on month.
Production of iron ore in Mongolia totaled 7.64 million tonnes over 2023, down 18.73% year on year. Iron sand output was 5.33 million tonnes, down 30.41% year on year, and iron concentrate production increased 32.84% to 2.30 million tonnes.
