China imported 9.92 million tonnes of coking coal in November, up 73.1% year on year and 24.4% month on month, according to latest data from the General Administration of Customs.
The import value came in at $1.58 billion in November, up 35.0% year on year and 21.7% from October. This translated to average import price at $159.3/t, falling $45.0/t from the preceding year and $3.4/t month on month.
China imported 91.05 million tonnes of coking coal in the first eleven months of 2023, jumping 58.7% year on year, with the imports value up 11.2% to $15.27 billion, data showed.
China's anthracite imports stood at 1.67 million tonnes in November, surging 119.6% from the year-ago level and 9.7% on the month, marking a sequential increase of the second consecutive month.
Import value of anthracite totaled $240 million, climbing 46.2% year on year and 4.7% from the previous month. The average import price was calculated at $145.2/t, down $72.9/t year on year and $6.9/t month on month.
China imported 16.73 million tonnes of anthracite over January-November in 2023, surging 66.9% year on year. The aggregate import amounts came in at $2.91 billion, climbing 37.8% on the year, data showed.
