China's cumulative market-based electricity trades reached 4,657.8 TWh over the first ten months this year, up 8.1% compared to the same period last year, representing 61.3% of the nation's total power consumption, showed data from the China Electricity Council (CEC).
Among the total trades, intra-province trades stood at 3,704.8 TWh in the same period while that of cross-province reached 953.0 TWh in the same period, data showed.
By region, trades concluded at exchanges covered by the State Grid totaled 3,631.59 TWh from January-October, up 5.9% year on year, accounting for 60.5% of total power consumption in the region, CEC data showed.
Power trades covered by China Southern Power Grid rose 10.4% to 769.09 TWh, accounting for 58.7% of consumption in five southern provinces – Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou and Hainan.
Also, there were 257.12 TWh that happened at Inner Mongolia power exchange center, which increased 32.2% year on year and accounted for 82.9% of the region's total.
Of all market-based electricity trades, medium and long-term power supply was 3,645.62 TWh from January-October, rising 6.4% year on year, of which 3,539.69 TWh belonged to intra-province trades and 105.94 TWh cross-province trades.
And the medium and long-term power supply covered by the State Grid was 2,762.59 TWh from January-October, up 4.2% year on year, data showed.
In October, the power trades rose 10.2% year on year to 453.11 TWh, of which 362.95 TWh belonged to intra-province trades while 90.16 TWh cross-province trades, data showed.
Of all market-based power trades in October, medium and long-term power supply stood at 341.77 TWh, increasing 6.4% from the previous year, of which intra-province trades accounted for 331.74 TWh while that of cross-province reached 10.04 TWh, CEC data showed.
