Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), operating under the Ministry of Coal of India, has officially launched operations at its Madhuband washing plant with a capacity of 5 million tonnes per annum on November 29, 2023, local media reported.
The Madhuband stands as one of India's largest coking coal washing plant, distinguished by its technological prowess and logistical efficiency.
This move underscores BCCL's commitment to substituting imported coking coal in India, helping address the challenges faced by the steel industry amidst escalating prices of imported coking coal.
The Madhuband washery is expected to ensure a steady flow of high-quality washed coking coal to the steel sector, optimizing the utilization of India's limited coking coal reserves through state-of-the-art washing processes, according to reports.
