Vietnam's coal output exceeded 4 million tonnes again in October after six consecutive months of declines, hitting to a new high in recent four months, according to the latest data from the General Statistics Office (GSO).
Vietnam produced 4.12 million tonnes of coal in October, a growth of 2.49% from 4.02 million tonnes a year ago and an increase of 13.84% compared to 3.62 million tonnes in September, data showed.
From January to October this year, Vietnam's cumulative coal production amounted to 40.64 million tonnes, 2.5% lower than 41.68 million tonnes last year, with the decline narrowing by 0.53 percentage point from the last nine months.
The country's coal production is expected at 4.21 million tonnes in November, rising 4.74% year on year and 16.34% month on month. And the cumulative coal output over January-November is expected at 44.85 million tonnes, up 7.6% year on year.
The majority of domestically produced coal in Vietnam is used for local electricity generation, cement production, and other industrial purposes.
