Shuohuang railway, China's second-longest rail line that ships coal from northern production areas to northern ports after Daqin railway, had delivered 300.28 million tonnes of coal for the year as of November 14, up 12.2 million tonnes compared with the same period in 2022.
The railway, operated by CHN Energy Shuohuang Railway, starts from Shenchi county in Shanxi in the west and ends at Huanghua port of Hebei in the east. The company is also responsible for the operation of three lines, namely the Shuohuang, Huangda and Huangwan line.
The total operating mileage of Shuohuang railway stands at 889 kilometers, with annual coal transport volume exceeding 300 million tonnes. The volume accounts for about 16% of the total rail coal handling in China, making it an important channel for China's west-to-east coal transportation.
Shuohuang railway has prioritized thermal coal delivery to guarantee supply to power and heating plants this winter.
Since the fourth quarter, the railway has maintained an average daily traffic volume of more than 1.04 million tonnes, refreshing records 18 times for key transportation indicators including the number of monthly operation of 20,000-tonne heavy trains, daily coal transport volume, and monthly transport volume.
This consistent performance has provided stable transport capacity support for ensuring energy supply during the peak winter demand.
