China imported 7.98 million tonnes of coking coal in October, up 28.5% year on year yet down 26.3% month on month, the latest customs data showed.
The import value came in at $1.3 billion in October, up 9.1% year on year but down 16% from September. This translates to average import price at $162.7/t, falling $29.0/t from the preceding year but up $20.0/t month on month, according to the General Administration of Customs.
China imported 81.12 million tonnes of coking coal in the first ten months of 2023, jumping 57.1% year on year, with the imports value up 8.9% to $13.7 billion.
China's anthracite imports stood at 1.52 million tonnes in October, surging 112.8% from the year-ago level and 36.4% on the month.
Import value of anthracite totaled $230 million, climbing 60.5% year on year and 45.9% from the previous month. The average import price was calculated at $152.1/t, down $49.5/t year on year but up $9.9/t month on month.
China imported 15.05 million tonnes of anthracite over January to October in 2023, surging 62.5% year on year. The aggregate import amounts came in at $2.67 billion, climbing 37.1% on the year, data showed.
