Russia has produced more than 373 million tonnes of coal so far this year and exported over 176 million tonnes, Deputy Energy Minister Sergey Mochalnikov said on November 14, according to a report by Sputnik.
Speaking to reporters, Mochalnikov said: "Since the beginning of the year, production has exceeded 373 million tonnes and exports exceeded 176 million tonnes - this is data as of the end of last week. We are on par with last year."
He added the Energy Ministry still plans to maintain coal output and exports at 2021 and 2022 levels this year, which amounted to 440 million tonnes of production and 220 million tonnes of exports.
Even with Russia utilizing Baltic, Black Sea and northwest ports for coal shipments, demand for Russian coal is at least twice Russia's export capacity, Mochalnikov noted.
