Canada's coal production continued the year-on-year decrease for the third month but showed a month-on-month growth in August, according to official statistics.
In August, Canada produced 3.71 million tonnes of coal, down 15.5% or 682,000 tonnes from a year ago yet up 5.6% or 196,000 tonnes on the month, showed data from Statistics Canada.
During the first eight months of 2023, Canada's coal output totaled 32.08 million tonnes, rising 7.2% compared to the previous year.
