China imported 35.99 million tonnes of coal in October, climbing 23.34% or 6.81 million tonnes from 29.18 million tonnes a year ago, showed data from the General Administration of Customs (GAC) on November 7.
The October figure was 14.59% or 6.15 million tonnes lower than 42.14 million tonnes in September, data showed.
Value of the imports totaled $3.55 billion in October, a 4.18% fall year on year and declining 11.01% month on month. Sxcoal calculated the average import price at $98.74/t, down $28.36/t year on year but up $3.98/t month on month.
China imported a total of 383.64 million tonnes of coal in January-October, surging 66.8% on the year. The imports value amounted to $43.24 billion, up 26.7% on the year, the GAC data showed.
