China Railway Taiyuan Group Co., Ltd. in Shanxi, the country's leading coal-producing hub, had delivered 597.82 million tonnes of coal as of November 19 so far this year, growing 4% or 25.59 million tonnes on the year, the People's Railway Daily reported.
This fully guarantees the coal demand of 16 power plants within its jurisdiction and over 300 rail-linked power plants nationwide.
Coal stocks reached 2.37 million tonnes at 13 power plants with direct supply through railways, sufficient for 22 days' worth of usage. Coal inventories at ports in the Bohai Rim region reached 27.25 million tonnes.
As of November 19, the group reached fulfillment rate of 87% for medium- and long-term coal contracts, with thermal coal for power generation at 94.4%.
To ensure smooth coal transportation, the group increased the frequency of 20,000-tonne train departures on the Daqin line. Since November, Taiyuan Group has been loading an average of 22,720 coal wagons per day.
As a key force in coal shipment in Shanxi, the group has been working to enhance capacity guarantee and optimize transportation to address the urgent need for coal.
Recently, widespread temperature drops, rainfall, snowfall, and heavy fog have posed severe challenges to coal supply guarantee. The company has established a special team and strengthened facilities maintenance to support safe and smooth coal transportation.
